Too often, for the past 10-12 years, that distinction has been blurred (errr...destroyed). We're all guilty of that.

@bakedbean: I've been accused of not being so "unspoken" in the past...I will try to follow your example a little bit better. Will be tough... :)

@winter: The challenges are many, no doubt. The legitimate fear, to me, is that the few credit unions in trouble cut off their noses to spite their faces. When a dog's cornered, no matter how good he is, he may bite. It's important that we support each other and stay true to our missions - no matter what short-term problems we face.Matt, the Credit Union Warriorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09889457998860910770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6142586076564907145.post-9230924013497019982008-11-10T09:03:00.000-08:002008-11-10T09:03:00.000-08:00Very well done post. At the end of the day we all come back together and get to work.

Looking ahead, CUs have a tough fight - not because of Democrats but because of the financial meltdown forcing the issue of regulatory restructuring. We have to join together - not as partisans, but as cooperatives - to successfully make an argument for continued independence for credit unions.

And we are going to have very little time to pull it together. It could make 1151 look like the warm up to the main event.

Can we do it?

Yes we can. (oops. sorry. now you know who I voted for).

WinterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6142586076564907145.post-63140802860700382962008-11-09T21:36:00.000-08:002008-11-09T21:36:00.000-08:00Very well-written post. My ma...Dear Warrior,

Thank you for this candid post. My mama always told me that voting was a private thing - like religion - and you shouldn't discuss either in mixed company.

So I can't say who I voted for.....but I too vow to support Obama, and I am darned proud to live in a country where it is possible for a woman and a man of color to be viable candidates to lead the nation - a nation that used to BAN voting for women, and well......slavery....and pre-civil rights America...not our proudest moments. Look how far we've come.

I watched the returns on Tuesday with great interest and my heart burst with pride upon hearing McCain's concession speech (he is a true patriot a such a gracious man) and Obama's acceptance (very inspiring and who can deny historic). Great press for America, and right now we need it.

I look forward to you and Edward leading credit unions back on the path of promoting thrift and helping people live within their means.

We (Americans and Credit Unions) really need to come together on the issues (say NO to the TARP) and move forward.

Amen Warrior....
D.Denise Wymorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08818015867795674716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6142586076564907145.post-16297594855812956972008-11-08T10:00:00.000-08:002008-11-08T10:00:00.000-08:00Well thought and well written post, Matt. You and...Well thought and well written post, Matt. You and I share many of the same feelings in reagard to the election.

I did not vote for Sen. Obama. However, I had a rush of emotions on election night while having dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in Ceasar's Palace in Vegas. I was moved to witness Sen. Obama kiss the cheek of Mrs. Biden, and witness Sen. Biden kiss the cheek of Mrs. Obama. I thought, wow, what a country!

Obama is now my President, or will be in January, and I will provide my prayers and support for him just as I did for President Bush.D Adams, youngcuceohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06865299126881048756noreply@blogger.com
